If you want to acquire an unlimited amount of gold bars in Red Dead Redemption 2, there is a cheat code you can use.

The cheat code requires that you be in Chapter 2 of the game. To execute it, take the following steps:

1.Go to Limpany, a burnt down village located northwest of Flatneck Station. If you're camped at Horseshoe Overlook, it'll be a bit southwest.

2.Prior to initiating the cheat code, make a manual save in the Pause menu, under "Story" and "Save Game". This will enable you to return to a save file where the cheat code was not used, if desired. Also, turn off autosaves in the "Settings" and "General" sections of the Pause menu to make the process simpler.

3.Locate the lockbox inside the burnt down Sheriff building, but don't take anything from it. Inside the box, there should be a gold bar and a letter. If the letter is not present, it means you've already bought the "Special Horse Stimulant Pamphlet" from a fence, and the cheat code will not work.

4.Look at the gold bar so that the words "Gold Bar" appear in the bottom right corner of the screen. This is easier to do in first-person view. While looking at the gold bar, manually save the game, exit the game through the menu, and then select "Resume Story" at the title screen.

5.When the game loads, you will spawn nearby. Go back to the lockbox and the letter should now be gone. The box will now contain an unlimited number of gold bars. Collect as many as you can carry (30 maximum, each worth $500, for a total of $15,000).

6.Sell the gold bars at a fence, such as the one at Emerald Ranch, for $15,000.

You can repeat steps 3-6 as many times as desired to get an unlimited amount of money.

However, after completing the story, you'll receive an additional $20,000, which is more money than you'll ever need, so doing this exploit once should be sufficient. If you want to repeat the process, make sure to close and reopen the lockbox so that the letter respawns. Then, look at the gold bar, save the game, exit to the title screen, and collect 30 more gold bars. Note that this exploit was tested on an unpatched version of the game and may be patched in the future. To prevent patches from being installed, disconnect from the internet until you're ready for the game to install them.
